Sandra is the founder of Nopalera, a Mexican botanicals brand that celebrates and elevates Latina culture. The brand takes inspiration from the prickly pear cactus. And is Amy, the founder of Tower 28, a clean beauty brand designed for sensitive skin. Tower 28 follows the National Eczema Association ingredient guidelines, ensuring that its products are 100% safe for sensitive skin.

Both founders have very unique experiences that led them to where they are today. Amy started her brand later in life, with her experience in the beauty industry. On the other hand, Sandra has a storied history and even was the lead singer of a band before gaining experience in the CPG industry.
The two founders met through Clean Beauty Summer School, an accelerator program founded by Amy. The program takes 10 BIPOC beauty founders annually and provides them with classes, mentors, and a pitch day. Sandra was the winner of the third season and speaks highly of the program!
In this podcast episode, Tom Shea, the co-founder of Agile Media Group, interviews Sandra and Amy on the streets of Chelsea in Manhattan. The interview covers their origin stories, brand-specific questions, the Clean Beauty Summer School, and more. Ready to hear their inspiring stories? But first, let's dive into who our guests are.
Are you ready to meet a true badass entrepreneur? Then look no further than Sandra Velasquez, the founder of Nopalera, a sustainable and clean beauty brand that is taking the market by storm! Sandra's journey to success is inspiring. After being unemployed at the age of 43, she decided to take matters into her own hands and build a brand from scratch. With no money upfront, she enrolled in an online skincare formulation school and learned how to make her own products. And that's just the beginning!
Sandra's brand, which is centered around the nopal, an ancient Mexican symbol, is targeted toward the clean beauty customer. And boy did it take off! Nopalera is now sold in Nordstrom, Credo Beauty, Free People Movement, Whole Foods, and hundreds of boutiques across the country. This fierce entrepreneur also appeared on Shark Tank and even received offers, but turned them down to continue fundraising on her own terms.
What sets Sandra apart is her grit and determination, which we think is made abundantly clear in this interview.
